PATIENT’S RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Nova Scotia Denturists operate within the framework of the Regulated Health Professions Act. They are trained in the delivery of safe, competent and ethical care through legislation, associated regulations, standards of practice and policies.
The Denturist Licensing Board has a formal complaints process designed to ensure fairness to both the person filing the complaint and the Denturist.
If you are a patient or a patient representative, you may bring your concerns about the practice of a denturist to the attention of the Denturist Licensing Board.
All complaints will be investigated in a thorough and objective manner to determine if there is any evidence of professional misconduct, incompetence or incapacity.
There are times when both you and your Denturist can work together to resolve problems that arise regarding unsatisfactory care or other matters. Before you make a formal complaint, the Board encourages you to discuss your concerns directly with your Denturist.
Complaints must be in writing and include all contact information, such as the name of the Denturist, your home and cell phone numbers, mailing address as well as email address along with the following information. A message can also be left at the number listed below.
- Specific date(s) of the occurrence(s)
- Detailed description of the occurrence(s) and your concerns
- Type of complaint (denture problem, conduct problem, other)
- Type of denture (full/partial/both, upper/lower/ both)
- Discussions with the Denturist about the concerns and outcomes
